Pete Tong’s weekly ‘Essential New Tune’ selection has thrown up some classics down the line, and this past Friday’s is no exception.

Chris Malinchak, via his own French Express label, has been putting out his own (and label roster’s) music for the past couple of years – much of it free to download. A loyal and dedicated fan base followed suit, which helps explains why his latest release, So Good To Me, has nearly 70,000 plays in just over 2 weeks on their official SoundCloud page.

But, that’s not to take anything away from the track itself. It’s an emotional, creative, atmospheric production that harks back to the sound Moby tailored so well. As a fellow blogger describes it: “Lovely muffled underwater synths and spacious, echoing guitar stabs bubble around the vocal sample in this stellar piece of soul-satisfying cosmic disco.”

I’m not going to better that.
